Life Membership
The Probus Club of Albany Creek has a provision in its by-laws to appoint up to five Life Members at any one time. Our three current Life Members are -
JIM GLEISNER who served as our President from 2007 to 2008.
ARTHUR MOSELY who served as our President from 2014 to 2015.
GREG EARLY who has served as Secretary from 2016.
JIM GLEISNER'S account of his time as President:
"Prior to election as President, I served as Treasurer from 2003 to 2006 and as Vice-President from 2006 to 2007. I returned as Treasurer from 2011 to 2016. During my tenure on the Management Committee I served as Treasurer under 8 Presidents and oversaw annual fund turnover of the Club going from nearly $21,000 to $27,000.
During my last year as Treasurer I, along with then Vice President Peter Lamb, completed a major revision of the Club's Constitution and By-laws. My association with the Club has been most enjoyable, with fond memories of outstanding outings and programs and new long-lasting friendships formed.
The Club is undoubtedly the finest organisation of its nature with which I have been associated. I can honestly say that, with its fun loving membership and especially with the outstanding and hard work of those serving on its Management Committee, the job of President is by far, in my view, the easiest one in the Club."
ARTHUR MOSLEY - Past President Maureen's account of Arthur's time to date with Albany Creek Probus.
"Arthur has been a member of Probus since 2007. He held office of Vice President in 2013, President in 2014, and then Past President. In 2007 he took on the role of Program Officer organising the guest speakers for the monthly meeting - in 2024 he completed 8 years in that role.
In 2010, at the behest of the then President Bluey Doyle, Arthur, along with Barry Harkin formed the Probus Pelicans - a 'men only' outing which originated as a fishing social group, but has since morphed into a bi-monthly fish lunch which Arthur continues to co-ordinate."
Arthur was awarded Life Membership at the 2024 AGM.
GREG EARLY - Currently Secretary
Greg and his late wife Ruby joined in 2008 after spending six months on the waiting list. Greg's long period as Secretary has proved advantageous for the management of the Club and has been and continues to be particularly helpful to Vice Presidents and Presidents, who in our Club hold these positions for one year.
Greg was made a Life Member at the 5 March 2026 meeting. It was a surprise to most present when Warwick Reading went up to the lectern to raise an item of general business but then talked about Greg's years as Secretary, then moved the relevant motion, which was carried unanimously.
